Forests of the South East
The painters of colonial Australia interpreted the Australian landscape through the eyes of the European/colonial invader. To them it was a wilderness; but in reality it was home for thousands of years to the local first nations people. The forests in these photos have been inhabited by people for tens of thousands of years. My home is built on stolen land not far from where these photos were taken; not far from where stone tools have been found, where people lived and loved for thousands of years. Now all that is left is the forest.
